What Will You Learn?
Marine Corps JROTC is much more than uniforms and drill. At its core, it is a nationally recognized leadership and citizenship curriculum designed to prepare students for success in high school, college, careers, and life.
The curriculum, developed by the United States Marine Corps, combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning experiences that help cadets grow academically, physically, and personally. Throughout the program, students develop practical skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.
Areas of Instruction Include:
Leadership & Character – Developing integrity, responsibility, confidence, ethical decision-making, and servant leadership.
Citizenship & Service – Understanding civic responsibility, the Constitution, American history, and the importance of serving others and strengthening our communities.
Communication & Professionalism – Building public speaking skills, effective communication, organization, professionalism, military bearing, etiquette, and personal presentation.
Health & Physical Fitness – Setting personal fitness goals, improving physical wellness, and learning the importance of lifelong healthy habits.
Hands-On Learning – Applying classroom lessons through activities such as archery, air rifle marksmanship, leadership exercises, drill, and team-building experiences.
Career & Life Readiness – Developing the discipline, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that employers, colleges, and communities value.
At Romeoville High School, our instructors place a special emphasis on service, leadership, and citizenship.
Cadets are challenged to become leaders who serve others with humility, integrity, and courage. Through the study of remarkable individuals—including Medal of Honor recipients—students explore what it means to put others before themselves, make ethical decisions, and lead with character.
Every lesson is designed with one goal in mind: to help young people become confident, capable, and compassionate leaders who are prepared to make a positive difference in their families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
