Some of the greatest lessons in Marine Corps JROTC happen after the final school bell rings.

Whether you're drawn to the precision of Drill, the service of Color Guard, the challenge of Raiders, or the leadership formation found in S-Shops and Community Service opportunites, every activity is designed to help cadets grow in confidence, leadership, teamwork, and personal responsibility.

We encourage every cadet to become involved in at least one team or activity. These experiences bring classroom lessons to life, provide opportunities to compete and serve alongside friends, and help cadets build the confidence, character, and leadership skills that prepare them for success long after high school.

Drill Team

The Drill Team is the heart of Marine Corps JROTC competition, where cadets learn precision, teamwork, discipline, and confidence through synchronized marching and ceremonial drill. Whether competing with or without rifles, cadets challenge themselves to perform as one team while representing Romeoville High School with pride. Nationally competitive and built on a tradition of excellence, Drill teaches that success comes through dedication, practice, and trust in your teammates.

Color Guard

The Color Guard is one of the most visible and respected teams within Marine Corps JROTC. Cadets proudly represent Romeoville High School and the nation by presenting the Colors at athletic events, ceremonies, memorials, and community celebrations. Serving on the Color Guard is both an honor and a privilege, developing confidence, professionalism, precision, and a lifelong commitment to service.

Raider Team

The Raider Team combines endurance, strength, leadership, and teamwork in one of the most exciting activities in Marine Corps JROTC. Through obstacle courses, rescue scenarios, endurance races, rope bridge construction, and other outdoor challenges, cadets learn that the strongest teams are those that work together and never leave a teammate behind.

S-Shops (Service Shops)

S-Shops are the leadership teams that keep the Spartan Battalion running behind the scenes. From planning events and managing equipment to organizing records, leading public outreach, and supporting recruitment efforts, cadets take on real responsibilities that develop leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills while helping the program succeed.

Community Service

Community service is one of the cornerstones of Marine Corps JROTC, a necessity for leadership opportunities and promotions and one of the most meaningful ways cadets learn to lead. Throughout the year, cadets volunteer at school and community events, support veterans' organizations, and serve others through a wide variety of service opportunities.

Last year alone, our cadets contributed more than 2,500 hours of community service.
