MCJROTC Uniforms and Grooming Standards
MCJROTC cadets are issued multiple types of uniforms, all provided free of charge. Each uniform serves a specific purpose and must be worn according to regulations.
Description: Green undershirt shirt with green USMC trunks, along with a sweat top and bottom.
Notes: Competition PT uniforms may vary based on team leader discretion.
Description: Worn with sleeves up or down depending on the season. Includes:
8-point cover (hat)
Colored blouse(shirt) with rank displayed
Web belt (Beige with gold buckle)
Trousers bloused onto beige boots above the ankle
Purpose: Standard utility uniform for regular duties.
Dress Blue "Alphas":
Purpose: Ceremonial events such as Marine Corps Birthday or Change of Command ceremonies.
Components:
White cover(hat) with gold EGA (Symbol of the Marine Corps)
Black coat displaying rank, medals, and ribbons that the cadet has earned
White belt with gold buckle around the coat
Web belt around blue trousers
Corphames (shiny black dress shoes)
Notes: This is the only uniform where cadets may display their medals.
Dress Blue "Bravos":
Purpose: Ceremonial events, similar to Alphas. It can also be worn for competitions.
Components:
White cover with gold EGA (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor)
Black coat displaying rank, ribbons, and shooting badge
White belt with gold buckle around the coat
Web belt around blue trousers
Corphames(Shiny black dress shoes)
Notes: Medals are not displayed on this uniform.
Dress Blue "Charlies" & "Deltas":
Purpose: Primarily for community service activities or competitions.
Components:
White cover with Gold EGA (Eagle, Globe, Anchor)
Khaki shirt (Long/Short Sleeve) displaying rank, ribbons, and shooting badge
Blue trousers
Tie (Males) OR Neck Clasp (Females)
Hair may be dyed, tinted, bleached, or frosted but must remain within natural color ranges that complement the individual’s complexion.
Unprofessional or distracting colors are prohibited such as, Pink, Blue, Green (ECT).
Hair Length & Bulk: Neatly trimmed, closely following the natural shape of the head. Maximum hair length: 4 inches on top. The back and sides of the head must have a 0-1 fade.
Sideburns: Must not extend below the top of the ear; no tapering, flaring, or pointed styles.
Hairstyles: Must conform to the head’s natural shape, hair must be portrayed in a neat manner while still following all other regulations.
Facial Hair: Must be clean-shaven, except for neatly trimmed mustaches.
Fingernails: Clean, trimmed, and not extending past fingertips. Nail polish is not permitted for male cadets.
Hair Length & Styles:
Short: Maximum 1 inch from scalp; bangs must not obstruct vision.
Medium: Hair may extend 2 inches past colar, may be worn in a bun if compliant.
Long: Must be pulled into a bun except when in PT uniform, where a ponytail is allowed.
Hair Types: Braids, twists, and locs are allowed if compliant with length and neatness standards.
Fingernails: Maximum ¼ inch from fingertips. In Dress Blue uniforms, only red-spectrum nail polish is allowed complimenting the wearers skin tone.
Makeup: Natural and conservative application allowed. Lipstick/lip gloss in the red spectrum may be worn in Dress Uniforms complimenting the wearers skin tone.
Earrings: Not allowed in PT or utility uniforms. In Dress Uniforms, white pearl or gold/silver ball earrings may be worn (max 6mm diameter).
