One of the Nation's Highest Honors
Romeoville High School Marine Corps JROTC is proud to have been recognized as a five-time Naval Honor School—one of the highest distinctions a Marine Corps JROTC program can earn.
Simply put, this designation means our program is recognized as one of the top Marine Corps JROTC programs in the nation. It is a reflection of the hard work, leadership, and commitment demonstrated by our cadets, instructors, and school community year after year.

What Is a Naval Honor School?
Each year, Marine Corps JROTC units across the country submit detailed reports highlighting the accomplishments of their cadets and programs. Marine Corps leadership carefully reviews these reports and evaluates each program based on a wide range of performance measures before selecting the highest-performing units for Naval Honor School designation.
Programs are evaluated in areas such as:
Academic achievement
Leadership development
Community service
Citizenship and character
School and community involvement
Competitive teams and extracurricular participation
Unit inspections and overall program excellence
This recognition cannot be earned through one successful event or competition.
It reflects an entire year's commitment to excellence across every aspect of the program.
What Does This Mean for Our Cadets?
Being part of a Naval Honor School means students are participating in a program that has consistently demonstrated excellence in leadership, academics, service, and citizenship.
For university, trade-school, academy or scholarship applications - this is exemplary content.
The designation also provides unique opportunities for students interested in attending one of our nation's prestigious military service academies.
As a Naval Honor School, Romeoville High School Marine Corps JROTC is authorized to nominate qualified cadets to the:
- U.S. Naval Academy,
- U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and
- U.S. Air Force Academy
- Coast Guard Academy
- Merchant Marines Academy
And
Any ROTC scholarship for participating colleges.
In addition, recommendations from our Senior Marine Instructor carry significant weight during the academy admissions process.
Our Naval Honor School Ribbons are on proud display at each Drill competition letting judges and competitors know that excellence is our standard - on and off the drill deck.
Attending a Naval Honor School means
Learning in an environment that has been nationally recognized for developing
confident leaders, responsible citizens, and young adults of strong character.

Excellence Is Earned
Earning Naval Honor School status requires far more than success in the classroom.
It reflects thousands of hours of community service, countless hours of after-school practices, participation in school and community events, academic excellence, competitive success, and a shared commitment to serving others.
Much of this work happens after school, on weekends, and throughout the summer—demonstrating the extraordinary dedication of our cadets and the content of their character.
Our Five Naval Honor School designations are more than plaques on a wall or ribbons on our unit colors. They represent years of students who chose to challenge themselves, lead with integrity, and leave the program stronger than they found it.
We are proud to continue this tradition.
