Ist Sergeant Efren Casas
Marine Instructor (MI)
Growing up, in Melrose Park, IL, 1st Sgt Efren Casas enlisted in the Marine Corps July of 1999 and began recruit training June 2000 in San Diego, California; after he completed Recruit Training, MCT, and MOS Training, PFC Casas reported to S-1 on Camp Johnson, North Carolina.
1st Sgt Casas has served in various billets in North Carolina, Hawaii, Okinawa Japan, and Camp Pendleton, CA. He also served as a member of the Marine Corps Senate Liaison Office serving on Capitol Hill. 1st Sgt Casas was promoted to his current rank in December 2016 and served as the I&I First Sergeant for Maintenance Company in New Haven, Connecticut.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Gold Star.
In August 2020, 1st Sgt Casas retired from the Marine Corps. He then became the Marine Instructor at Wilby High School in Waterbury, Connecticut. In school year 2022 to 2023, 1st Sgt was the Senior Marine Instructor at Marine Leadership Academy in Chicago.
In 2023, he made the decision to fulfill a lifelong ambition and became a Deputy Sheriff in Kendall County, IL. He is currently serving as the Marine Instructor for Romeoville MCJROTC.
1st Sgt Casas has a Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society from Penn State University and is bilingual in Spanish and English.
